All too often, it seems, negative always overshadows the positive. In professional sports, DUI’s, assaults and drug possessions will always field more attention than the community involvement of an athlete. Unfortunately, drama and negativity steals headlines.
When it comes to our beloved Seahawks, a rookie quarterback, a Beast at running back and a talkative cornerback are typically your lead stories. Yet, outside of the spotlight sits a rookie defensive end out of Louisville, Greg Scruggs. If you don’t follow the team religiously, your first impression of Scruggs may have been during his infamous “Gangnam Style” sack dance in the Minnesota game at Century Link field (It should be noted that dance has been renamed “Scruggsnam Style”).
Meanwhile, the rookie seems to be finding his way in his new hometown quite well. He recently chatted with fans in Renton during Monday Night Football and re-enacts his famous dance upon request. He enjoys living away from the Seahawks practice facility where it’s a bit quieter. Though Scruggs seems more reserved compared to his more outspoken defensive teammates, don’t be fooled: Scruggs is still doing big things.
As the Holiday season approaches, we are reminded of celebrations with family and friends. Many people think of helping out those less fortunate, but few will actually do it. That’s where Scruggs comes in: Greg has decided to help out some local families this Holiday season, by giving a Thanksgiving dinner to a family in need and providing a Christmas miracle to another.
He is looking for families that could use a little help. Scruggs has taken to Twitter to find those families. Do you know a family that could use a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner? Do you know a family in need of a Christmas miracle? Scruggs would like to find family with children for Christmas so he may deliver presents to the children. If you know a family who could use a little help, please contact Greg at scruggsnamstyle@gmail.com and help him to make the Holidays a little brighter!
Cheers to Greg and all those people who look to make a difference in others' lives each and every day!
