RENTON - Sunday was the low-point of the Seattle Seahawks 2012 season.

Not only did Seattle blow two fourth quarter leads to the Miami Dolphins but news broke that CB Richard Sherman and CB Brandon Browner could both be facing suspensions.

It was not a banner afternoon for the Seahawks organization.

Head coach Pete Carroll would not comment on the possible suspensions facing Sherman and Browner on Monday saying they are league issues.

"We can't comment on that at all," Carroll said. "That is a situation between the players and the league and we have no position to comment in any way about it."

The Seahawks have seen three players suspended in the last calendar year for performance-enhancing drug violations with Sherman and Browner possibly becoming two more following the appeals process.

G John Moffitt, T Allen Barbre (who is no longer with the team), and S Winston Guy (currently serving a four-game suspension) all were levied suspension for PED violations. Carroll also would not comment on the trend of his players getting hit for these violations until after the process plays out.

"These are league issues and at this point I'm just going to keep it there," Carroll said.

Until a ruling is made on the suspensions, both Browner and Sherman will still be allowed to play and Carroll expects to have them this Sunday in Chicago.

Browner's agent, Peter Schaffer, spoke to a group of us Monday afternoon about the allegations against his client. Here is a transcript of that conversation.

(What if anything can you tell us about Brandon’s situation right now?) “I can tell you that Brandon Browner has no knowledge of how any illegal substance could have gotten into his system. He is an outstanding person and a very good football player. He takes tremendous care of his body and he is very careful with what he puts into it. We’re exploring all avenues to try and figure out how any substance out of the ordinary would be in his system.”

(Can you tell us anything about the appeals process and when a hearing may be scheduled?) “I can’t tell you anything specific. I can tell you in general that when hearings of this nature happen they try to schedule them within 20 days of when the letter is sent unless circusmtances require them to take longer, the need for evidence experts and the like.”

(Is there a possiblity this could drag through season and into next year?) “I can’t comment on the specifics of this one. It’s too early to tell what we’re going ot need, what witnesses and evidence and experts are going to be required so there is no way to even guess at this point.”

(Can you tell us when he tested positive?) “I think that’s confidential.”

(When did you receive the notice?) “I think it was last week.”

(There are reports the notice came in October, is that inaccurate?) “We got the notice from the league last week.”

The game against the Bears has added importance after Seattle allowed the Dolphins to score 17 fourth quarter points in a 24-21 loss on Sunday. Miami ran for 189 yards against the Seahawks defense and overcome two fourth quarter deficits to hand Seattle a loss. The Seahawks are now 1-5 on the road this season.

"We had a chance on offense and a chance on defense to close this thing out and didn't get it done," Carroll said. "I can't imagine if anybody can be in more close games on the road than we've been."

The fact that Seattle has been unable to close out more than one victory on the road has been the difference between the Seahawks being a real contender this season and a team just looking to sneak into the playoffs.
