RENTON - The bye week came at a perfect time for the Seattle Seahawks to recover from a long list of nagging injuries.

After having 13 players appear on the team's final injury report prior to their 28-7 win over the New York Jets two weeks ago, Seattle had just one player unable to practice when the team worked out on Monday.

G James Carpenter has yet to be cleared to return to practice after suffering a concussion three weeks ago. It's unclear whether he suffered the concussion in Detroit or in practice the following week. He first showed up on the injury report with an "illness" when he was held out of a Friday practice before the Minnesota game. He was then ruled out Saturday with concussion symptoms.

Head coach Pete Carroll said he should know about Carpenter's status on Wednesday.

"We’ll wait and find out. I hope he is able to go," Carroll said. "He’s had a lot of time to break and we just want to make sure we get everything squared away, and we’ll see what happens."

Carpenter was expected to undergo a few more tests Monday afternoon to see if he would be cleared for Wednesday's practice.

Outside of Carpenter, everyone else appears set to return. LB K.J. Wright was back at practice after missing the game against the New York Jets with a concussion. DT Clinton McDonald and DT Greg Scruggs were also back at practice after missing the Jets game with a groin and oblique injury, respectively.

Carroll said that he believes CB Walter Thurmond will be ready to go for them this week. Thurmond has practice the last three weeks and was activated to the 53-man roster from the physically unable to perform list prior to the Jets game, though he was inactive for the game.

"I think he is ready to go. I would hope that Walter would be involved this week," Carroll said.

"He’s been battling Marcus Trufant at the nickel spot, but he’s been battling to play outside so we’ll see. He’s a special football player so we’d like to get him involved some. It might be in some dime situations as well so we’re looking for a spot for him."
