Reid Petryk scored two goals, including the game winner with 4:30 to play, to pace the ‘Tips offensively. Defensemen Landon Oslanski and Nick Walters each chipped in a goal and an assist, with Walters scoring for the first time this year. Ty Mappin and Tyler Sandhu also notched goals for the Silvertips, who scored three times during a span of just 3:05 during the first period.
That scoring outburst erased a 1-0 first period deficit for the Silvertips after Brett Kulak opened the scoring for Vancouver. Nick Walters then started things for Everett, releasing a laser slapshot over the shoulder of Giants goaltender Payton Lee for his first goal of the season. The ‘Tips powerplay then went to work, and a Landon Oslanski slapshot from the blueline beat Lee through the five-hole. Tyler Sandhu recorded a second powerplay goal just over a minute later as his centering feed from the left side ricocheted into the net off a Vancouver skate to make it 3-1 Everett. Anthony Ast scored for Vancouver before the period ended to make it 3-2 Silvertips after one.
The Giants scored twice in the second period to take the lead, first when Kale Kessy banged home a powerplay rebound at 6:05 and again at 12:50 as Trevor Cheek grabbed a rebound and scored on a nice spin move in front, giving the Giants their first lead of the game at 4-3. With less than a minute to go in the period, the Silvertips evened things up again as Reid Petryk picked up a loose puck in front after a Kohl Bauml faceoff win and made a beautiful move around the goaltender to tie the game at four.
Vancouver re-took the lead in the third as Taylor Vickerman powered to the front and scored at 4:53 to put Vancouver ahead for the third time. Everett knotted the score again midway through the frame when Oslanski collected a Giants turnover and patiently fed a cross-ice pass to Ty Mappin, who tied the game at five with his second goal of the year. The game-winning goal came four minutes later as Mirco Mueller sprung Petryk behind the defense on a partial breakaway, where he cut across the crease and deposited a backhander to put the ‘Tips ahead to stay 6-4.
Austin Lotz (2-8-0-3) stopped 21 of 26 shots in the victory, while Payton Lee (4-3-0-0) turned away 21 of 27 in defeat. The Silvertips went 2 for 6 on the powerplay and the Giants recorded one goal on two opportunities.
