RB Marshawn Lynch was absent from the Seahawks only open workout last Monday before returning to the team on Tuesday.
G John Moffitt and DE Chris Clemons (knee) were the only players absent from the workout on Tuesday. Clemons is rehabbing from his torn ACL in the playoffs and Moffitt was excused for a personal appointment according to Dave "Softy" Mahler.
It turns out the appointment was a court appearance. According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, Moffitt was in court on charges of misdemeanor criminal trespass and obstruction. His appearance was at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in King County District Court. Moffitt has another court date scheduled for June 14.
DT Greg Scruggs (knee) made a brief appearance during positional drills before heading back into the facility. Scruggs is also recovering from a torn ACL suffered in offseaosn work prior to the NFL Draft.
- S Kam Chancellor appeared on Sirius XM Radio on Monday and said the players on the team had called a team meeting following the recent suspension of DE Bruce Irvin for the first four games of the season for a violation of the league's performance-enhancing drugs policy.
Irvin was the sixth Seahawks player to test positive for PEDs in the last three seasons. However, CB Richard Sherman won an appeal to keep him playing last season.
Chancellor said the idea for the meeting came from FB Michael Robinson and the meeting itself lasted for 25-30 minutes to discuss the number of suspensions the team has incurred the last few seasons. Chancellor said he believes the message has been heard and taken to heart by the team.
"I think it touched everybody more hearing it from the players," Chancellor said. "Hearing what the players had to say and what was deep in their heart. I think everybody felt it and took it in and I think everybody learned from that meeting."
"I think everybody took it in and took it to heart."
- CB Antoine Winfield didn't participate in the offseason program of the Minnesota Vikings in the last five years. Instead, Winfield chose to work out on his own in preparation for the coming season. Now that he's with a new organization, it was important for Winfield to be a part of the offseason workouts with the Seahawks to help get acclimated to his new team.
"I thought it would be wise for me to get in here and get familiar with everyone," Winfield said. "Being around the coaches, just seeing how the Seahawks does things. I love it. I'm working hard and I'm getting better."
- The Seahawks waived/injured TE Anthony McCoy on Tuesday a week after he suffered a torn Achilles tendon. If McCoy clears waivers, he will likely revert to the injured reserve list. During the offseason a player has to be waived/injured in order to be placed on injured reserve.
If McCoy's place, the Seahawks signed T Jake Bscherer. Bscherer had participated in the team's rookie mini-camp as a tryout player.
