RENTON - Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin was forced to sit in the comfort of his own living room to watch his teammates take on the Detroit Lions last week.

It was the last place Baldwin wanted to be.

Baldwin didn't make the trip to Detroit with the team. Instead, Baldwin remained in Seattle to continue to rehab his injured left ankle. Baldwin suffered a high-ankle sprain when San Francisco S Dashon Goldson fell onto his leg while Baldwin was engaged with a defender on a punt return during Seattle's 13-6 loss to the 49ers.

Having to watch the game on TV was something that Baldwin just couldn't stomach.

"They went to Detroit and I was stuck at home watching the game on TV and that killed me," Baldwin said. "I have to play football."

This week Baldwin is likely to get his wish as he is expected to play against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

"Doug looks to be ready to go," head coach Pete Carroll said. "He had a full week of practice. He surprised us. Coming out of Monday we weren't sure then he practiced on Wednesday, got through it and had a good week so we're hoping he's going to play."

Carroll had called Baldwin a "long shot" to play as recently as Monday but Baldwin knew he was going to be able to play.

"Before the game last week I knew for a fact that I would be back this week," Baldwin said. "...I just put it in my head that I was going to do whatever it took to get back sooner than they believed."

Baldwin retunred to limited participation in practice on Wednesday and was a full-go during practice Thursday and Friday. With WR Braylon Edwards officially out for Sunday's game with a knee injury and WR Ben Obomanu being placed on injured reserve, Baldwin's availability would greatly help the Seahawks receiving corps.

WR Jermaine Kearse had been activated from the practice squad to replace Obomanu on the roster. If Baldwin was unavailable, the Seahawks may have needed to rely on Kearse more extensively Sunday.

DT Jason Jones is also out for Sunday's game with an ankle sprain that will force him to miss his second straight game. DT Greg Scruggs was back at practice Friday after sitting out Thursday with a oblique strain. Scruggs is listed as questionable but appears likely to play Sunday.

DT Alan Branch missed practice Friday due to a death in the family. He is expected back for the game.
