ALBUQUERQUE -- Nate Tenbrink’s 4-for-5 night headlined the Tacoma Rainiers 7-6 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes at Isotopes Park on Saturday night.
Tenbrink’s fourth four-hit night of the season began with a single in the top of the first inning. The third baseman stretched Tacoma’s 1-0 edge to three runs with a two-RBI double in the second, and he tallied his third hit with single in the fifth inning. His fourth and final knock was a one-out single in the seventh.
Carlos Peguero, Carlos Triunfel and Joe Dunigan combined to drive in each of the Rainiers other five runs. Peguero accounted for the Tacoma’s first appearance onto the scoreboard after doubling home Abraham Almonte with one out in the first. He later broke up a 3-3 tie with an RBI single that plated Tenbrink with two outs in the seventh.
Triunfel chipped in run-scoring singles in the seventh and ninth innings. Outfielder Joe Dunigan tallied his third RBI with Tacoma this season and drove in the club’s final run of the night after hitting a sacrifice fly in the game’s final frame.
Taijuan Walker (3-2) picked up his third win in his seventh start for the Rainiers after holding the Isotopes to three runs on five hits over six innings. The right-hander struck out five and walked four.
In his second appearance since being optioned from Seattle on August 6, reliever Tom Wilhelmsen allowed one run on one walk and struck out four over two hitless innings through the seventh and eighth. Right-hander Jonathan Arias earned his second save with Tacoma this season despite allowing two runs on two hits in the ninth.
The Rainiers (64-57) play the final game of a four-game series at Albuquerque (65-56) tomorrow, August 11. Right-hander Blake Beavan is slated to make his 12th start for Tacoma against Isotopes right-hander Red Patterson (6-4, 3.43). First pitch is scheduled for 12:35 p.m.
