ALBUQUERQUE -- Second baseman Ty Kelly went 4-for-4 as the Tacoma Rainiers fell to the Albuquerque Isotopes 6-1 at Isotopes Park on Friday night.
The infielder turned in his third season-high four-hit effort with the Rainiers this season, beginning with a single in the first inning. He delivered singles again in the third, fifth and eighth frames. Kelly has now hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games featuring a plate appearance.
Albuquerque notched a pair of runs in the bottom of the 1st inning before the Rainiers made their only appearance on the scoreboard in the top of the second. First baseman Rich Poythress hit a solo shot with one out - his 12th with Tacoma this season - to cut the Rainiers deficit to 2-1.
Tacoma’s lineup combined to collect 11 hits against Albuquerque. Along with Kelly, Poythress and outfielder Carlos Peguero submitted the Rainiers only other multi-hit efforts after each went 2-for-4.
Starter Hector Noesi (3-2) was dealt the loss after surrendering five runs on seven hits through 5.0 innings. The right-hander struck out seven and walked two in his eighth start and 11th appearance with the Tacoma.
