PEORIA, Ariz. – Carlos Peguero, Michael Saunders, Jason Bay and Michael Morse all hit home runs in the Mariners 8-6 Cactus League win over the Texas Rangers Friday afternoon at Peoria Stadium. The win extend the Mariners  winning streak to seven consecutive games.

Peguero (#3, 2nd inning), Saunders (#2, 3rd inning), Bay (#2, 4th inning) and Morse (#1, 4th inning) continued the Mariners home run barrage, increasing the spring total to 18 to lead both the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues.

The Rangers jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a Mitch Moreland 2-run home run in the top of the first inning off starting pitcher James Paxton. After scoring runs in the first and second innings, the Mariners took the lead with a two-run third inning and then extended the lead on 2-run home runs by Bay and Morse in the fourth inning.

The Mariners out-hit the Rangers 13-9, with Dustin Ackley (2x3, R), Kendrys Morales (2x3, R), Bay (2x2, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI), Morse (2x2, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI) and Peguero (2x4, R, HR, 2 RBI) all recording multi-hit games. The Mariners first four hitters in the starting lineup (Ackley-Bay-Morales-Morse) combined to reach base safely in 10 of 12 plate appearances (8 hits, 2 walks).

Right-hander Brandon Maurer (1-0) picked up the win throwing 2.0 scoreless innings and Logan Bawcom picked up the save with a scoreless ninth (2 strikeouts). Paxton allowed 3 runs on 2 hits in 2.0 innings (2 walks).

The Mariners (7-1) return to Cactus League play tomorrow hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers at Peoria Stadium (12:05 PT/1:05. The game is available live online via Mariners.com (subscription required). Right-handed pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma (0-0, 0.00) is scheduled to start for the Mariners against Dodgers left-hander Chris Capuano.
