So, what did we miss while I was gone...
Let's start with the Seahawks first preseason game against the Chargers. Breno and the first unit offensive line were terrible, but, it was only the first game and it was only two series and it was minus Max Unger. Again, only a few series, but where was the pressure on Phillip Rivers?? Christine Michael looked nice. Pretty sure Robert Turbin saw his performance and quickly became "healed" and was at practice as soon as possible. Stephen Williams flashed big play potential, but lets see against the first string. Not really sure why everyone was so excited about Allen Bradford. I get that he led the team in tackles, but I didn't think he was all that impressive, however, people on twitter were gushing about him.
The first units need to show a lot more against Denver, because its great that your backups are better then other teams backups, but it's the starters that pay the bills.
Good 'ol Johnny Manziel....suspend him for the entire season if he indeed took money for autographs. He knew the rules and openly violated them because he's "Johnny Football" and he believes he's above the rules. He's a spoiled rich crybaby that needs to be taught a lesson because his parents obviously haven't. I don't feed me this silly argument that these athletes are being used. He and other athletes are getting full ride scholarships that the average student would kill to have.
The Kid made me feel like a kid again....If you didn't shed a tear, especially if you are in my age bracket then you are not human. I thought he has was funny, humble, gracious, and most importantly he was honest. I did not like how things ended the last time around, and I'll disagree with his thoughts and words about Howard and Chuck, but he was and is the biggest superstar that has ever set foot in this city and it was terrific to see him finally come home where he belongs.
Finally...getting a little nervous about Cliff Avrill and Zach Miller. When are we going to see these two very important pieces for the Seahawks on the field? I don't know about you but I'm growing frustrated and certainly very concerned that both wont be ready for Carolina and even if they are ready how healthy will they truly be? The Chris Clemons ACL injury last season, the Anthony McCoy injury and the Bruce Irvin suspension are immense story lines as the season is almost upon us because of the trickle down affect it has on this team. Everyone cited at the end of the season that the pass rush needed to improve and the Seahawks went out and addressed that need. In addition, everyone because beyond excited on how Miller finished the year and daydreamed how he would look this season. Both these story lines are looking like they could be delayed and that's unfortunate.
