Graham Harrell with us on earlier this year after Mike Leach was hired: 

"People don't see it, but he cares about the kids more than any coach I've been around. He wants kids to graduate. He's gonna be tough on them, and he's going to have high expectations for them.  He wants hard work in both the field and the classroom.  

He had one of the highest graduation rates for years  and it's because he cares the kids and their future. For people to come out and say that he would be abusive, like I said were absurd and it made me mad and upset and it was clear that I was on his side. It was an unfortunate situation for both Texas Tech and coach Leach. I was sad to see him go, but at the same time whenever he got back in another program would have a heck of a guy on their hands."
