MONTLAKE - RB Bishop Sankey continues to look strong in practice and had an extra opportunity to shine during practice on Wednesday.
RB Jesse Callier tweaked an ankle in practice on Monday and was limited during team drills during practice. Sankey saw an increased amount of reps with Callier out and performed well in his absence. Sankey caught a screen pass and scampered 40 yards for a touchdown. He also caught a dump off from QB Keith Price and juked his way through the Washington defense for a long gain.
Sankey has shown good vision in finding holes and the ability to get through them into the next level in the first five workouts of spring.
"I thought what was pretty neat is Jesse doesn't go today and Bishop has a heck of a practice, made some big plays for us," head coach Steve Sarkisian said.
RB/FB Dezden Petty also had a nice practice hauling in a juggling 25-yard touchdown pass from QB Derrick Brown. Wednesday was the first practice he really saw extended time at fullback during practice.
"I thought Dezden Petty was very impressive in the short-yardage drill and he ran hard, ran physical," Sarkisian said. "Just like anything when a guy doesn't go other guys need to step up and I thought we saw that today."
Brown was better on Wednesday as well with the touchdown to Petty and a nice throw to WR William Chandler for an over-the-shoulder catch for a touchdown.
LB Scott Lawyer (unspecified) walked off to be attended to be trainers midway through practice. S Ken Egu (unspecified) did not participate in team drills. LB Jamaal Kearse (illness) missed his second straight practice on Wednesday. S Sean Parker (groin) was limited as well.
S James Sample, S Travis Feeney, and FB/LB Cooper Pelluer remain in red non-contact jerseys with shoulder injuries.
WR Kevin Smith (knee), RB/LB Ryan McDaniel (knee), RB Deontae Cooper (knee), DE Hau'oli Jamora (knee), LB Alec Kimble (foot), OL Colin Tanigawa (knee) and DT Semisi Tokolahi (foot) remain unable to practice and likely won't during the duration of spring practice.
