As the number one leading cause of death in America, heart disease kills one person every 34 seconds. The
American Heart Association has been working for years on ways of treating and preventing these deadly killers and now YOU can have a chance to get involved and make a difference too!
Honor survivors and pay tribute to loved ones by participating in the
2009 Heart Walk, which takes place on
Saturday, October 3, 2009 at
8th Street & Pacific Ave. The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s signature event, and thousands of participants in Pierce County will be there!
The walks are non-competitive and registration is completely free although participants are encouraged to raise funds to support the American Heart Association and their lifesaving mission. The details and registration information for the walk is outlined below.

Walk Length: Both a 5K (3.2 miles) or a one-mile survivor route are offered in this event
Event Schedule: gates open at 7:30am; opening ceremonies begin at 8:30am

Sign up as a Friends & Family Team or a Corporate Team. Walkers who are survivors of heart disease or stroke get an honorary red cap.
Walkers are eligible for a Start! Heart Walk t-shirt once they have raised a minimum of $100.
