“Let Burien Chevrolet make you a great deal!” - Elise Woodward
By Robin Dich, Sports Radio KJR
Brandon Browner joined the Elise and Jerry show for an interview about the upcoming season and his role as a leader on the team as well.
We know that Richard Sherman is the voice of the Seahawks defense, but it’s the quiet guy who is one of the emerging leaders, Brandon Browner. Browner has had a rough road towards the NFL. After a three year stint with the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League, he was given another chance to play in the NFL with the Seahawks and now he is one of the leaders for the Seahawks.
“I don’t have NFL experience, but I go football experience. So I have a lot of football knowledge to hand out t some of these younger guys. I may not have played this game here, but I’ve been playing football.”
It’s like a yin and yang for Sherman and Browner, they are polar opposites when it comes to personalities towards the media, but you need someone like Browner to balance someone like Sherman. He will be the guy who gives the rookies advice and guide the younger players to success. This is the message he is trying to show these young guys.
“Not to take their opportunity for granted, because you can look up and be here and the next moment not be here. Or you can be here, be close and get caught. Take advantage of every moment you are here.”
One large example is helping Bruce Irvin along through his four game suspension, something that unfortunately happened to Browner at the end of the season last year. He does agree that the Seahawks are being criticized by the national media who think there is a problem with PEDs in the locker room because they are breaking rules.
“People make mistakes, it’s nothing I hope Bruce is dwelling on, he made his mistake and he’ll be back in four games. It’s something he has to deal with, you know we all make mistakes in life, don’t get to down on yourself. Although you may feel like you let the team down, but you still have to deal with the situation and roll with the punches and what not,” Browner said about the PED problems for the Seahawks.
Brandon Browner is the wise guy on the team to help mold men out of boys on defense. With high expectations this year you need a level headed guy to keep this young team on track to achieve what it is capable of.
