The Northwest League announced today that Everett AquaSox infielder Bryan Brito and Vancouver Canadians infielder Justin Atkinson and pitcher Kyle Anderson have been added to the 2013 Northwest League All-Star team. Brito, Atkinson and Anderson will replace D.J. Peterson, Jordan Leyland and Eric Brown, who were all called up in the past few days.
Brito, a native of the Dominican Republic, has been a consistent contributor for the AquaSox, batting .248 with 13 runs this season. Signed by the Mariners in 2008, Brito’s ability to play multiple positions, and his defensive strength make him an asset to the North All-Star squad.
Atkinson, a Surrey B.C. native, is currently batting .254 for the Canadians, with six doubles. In his last ten games he is hitting .324 with three doubles for the C’s. Since being drafted by the Blue Jays in 2011, Atkinson has made a name for himself with his strong defensive play.
Anderson has been a consistent force in the Canadians rotation this season, currently holding a 4-0 record with a 2.39 ERA in nine appearances for the C’s. The Woodinville, Washington native has held opposing batters to a .211 AVG against, and has only walked seven batters.
The 2013 NWL All-Star Game presented by Tulalip Resort Casino is the league’s first since 2004. The game begins at 7:05 P.M. on Tuesday August 6. Gates will open at 2:30 P.M. for the pregame festivities, which include All-Star Fan Fest, made possible in part by assistance from the Snohomish County TPA Fund and the NWL Home Run Derby, presented by Safeco Insurance.
